Beau Bennett
Being a Californian doesn’t typically translate to hockey success. Beau is an exception. Growing up outside of Los Angeles, Beau started out playing in-line hockey before committing to ice hockey. In 2010, he became the highest drafted born-and-trained player from California in NHL history when he was selected 20th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Beau has played six seasons in the NHL—and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that his nickname is “Sunshine.”
